Hex Nuts are used for fastening to a hex head cap screw or bolt when mechanically joining materials together. Grade 2 is regular strength for everyday use. Made from low carbon steel. Use hot dipped galvanized finish or stainless steel where corrorsion is and rust is of concern or in exterior applications. Hot dipped galvanized finish provides one of the highest degree of corrosion resistance when compared to a steel zinc finish. Use grade 2 hex nuts with grade 2 hex head cap screws or hex bolts.

Nylon insert lock nuts have a nylon nylon material located at the top of the nut. The bolt threads into the nylon material which helps prevent loosening from vibration. These prevailing torque lock nuts offer excellent vibration resistance and positive locking under severe shock. The nylon collar prevents liquid seepage and internal corrosion. Compressive forces exert constant friction grip on the bolt and prevent loosening. Nuts may be reused. Steel is zinc plated for moderate protection against rust.

Threaded inserts provide permanent machine screw threads in wood, plastic, soft metal or other porous materials. Threaded inserts are often used to replace worn wood screw or metal screw holes that have become oversized due to wear. Installed with a machine screw, bolt, hex key or screwdriver for those types available with a slotted head. Use flanged type inserts to prevent pull-through. Threaded Inserts prevent wood splitting and the need to use large screws in wood only applications.
