Since 2004, The Home Depot Canada's Eco Options brand has helped consumers identify home improvement products that are better choices for the environment. With a wide assortment of products available online and in-store, Eco Options empowers consumers to make a difference in their homes and helps transform the market for a more sustainable future.
What Makes an Eco Options Product?
Eco Options products must have a lower impact on the environment than standard products in the same category and/or allow consumers to reduce their environmental impact through the product's use.
All Eco Options products fall under one of the following categories:
- Energy Efficiency
- Sustainable Forestry
- Water Conservation
- Clean Air
- Healthy Home
Environmental Standards
There are several certifications that are accepted into the program: ENERGY STAR®, WaterSense, EcoLogo, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), Organic Materials Research Institute (OMRI) and Design for Environment (DfE). Products that do not meet the certifications above are evaluated by third party experts.
Honey Bees & Insecticides
The Home Depot Canada is deeply engaged in understanding the relation of the use of certain insecticides on our live goods and honey-bee population.
National Battery and Cellphone Recycling Program
In partnership with Call-2-Recycle, The Home Depot Canada offers free battery and cell phone recycling to customers at all The Home Depot Canada stores.
