The first step to TV cable management is to measure the distance of the cables you need to cover. This usually means measuring from the bottom of your TV to just below the top of your entertainment console, table or wherever your cable box is located. This will give you the length of the base and cover that you’ll need.
Once you’ve got your measurements, cut the base and cover to size using a hand saw. Be sure to sand any rough edges with a fine grit sandpaper.
Use a level and mark the anchor points where your base will screw into the wall. The base should lay directly behind where your cables will run from the TV to the cabinet below. It is usually centered underneath your TV.
Once you’ve got the line for where your base will sit on the wall, hold the base up and - using a level to make sure it’s straight - mark the pilot hole locations by making a pencil mark through the screw holes in the base.
Lightly hammer some drywall anchors into the pilot holes. Then, screw the base onto the wall.
Now take your cables and make sure they all line up and are tight together. Lay them so that they’re on the base and not going outside of the edges.
Snap the cover over the base to cover the wires and keep them hidden.
Once your cover is on, you can paint the whole thing the same colour as your wall to make it nearly invisible.
Desk cable management in your office is a great way to make the room look neater and cleaner. Here’s how to do it in a few easy steps.
Group your cords together with cable ties. Wrap them in groups that are small enough to fit inside flex tubing. Cut the flex tubing to the length of the wrapped cords.
Open the flex tube and wrap it around the cords, ensuring that it closes around them. With the flex tubing surrounding them, your cables will look much neater, and they’ll also be protected from damage and spills.
Charge your devices in an out-of-the-way area by hiding a power bar inside one of your drawers. Here’s how.
Take the drawer out of the cabinet and using a hole saw bit, drill a hole in the back of the drawer.
Feed the end of a power bar through the hole and plug it into the wall. Use double-sided tape to secure the power bar to the inside of the back of the drawer. Now plug your devices in, and shut the drawer. They’re now charging and out of the way!
