How to Hide Wires

  1. Step 1 Measure the Wall

    Measure the Wall

The first step to TV cable management is to measure the distance of the cables you need to cover. This usually means measuring from the bottom of your TV to just below the top of your entertainment console, table or wherever your cable box is located. This will give you the length of the base and cover that you’ll need.

  2. Step 2 Cut the Base and Cover to Size

Cut the Base and Cover to Size

Once you’ve got your measurements, cut the base and cover to size using a hand saw. Be sure to sand any rough edges with a fine grit sandpaper.

  3. Step 3 Use a Level to Mark the Anchor Points

Use a Level to Mark the Anchor Points

Use a level and mark the anchor points where your base will screw into the wall. The base should lay directly behind where your cables will run from the TV to the cabinet below. It is usually centered underneath your TV.

  4. Step 4 Use a Level to Mark Pilot Holes

Use a Level to Mark Pilot Holes

Once you’ve got the line for where your base will sit on the wall, hold the base up and - using a level to make sure it’s straight - mark the pilot hole locations by making a pencil mark through the screw holes in the base.

  5. Step 5 Use Anchors and Screws to Mount the Base

Use Anchors and Screws to Mount the Base

Lightly hammer some drywall anchors into the pilot holes. Then, screw the base onto the wall.

  6. Step 6 Lay the Cables Over the Base

Lay the Cables Over the Base

Now take your cables and make sure they all line up and are tight together. Lay them so that they’re on the base and not going outside of the edges.

  7. Step 7 Snap the Cover On

    Snap the Cover On

Snap the cover over the base to cover the wires and keep them hidden.

  8. Step 8 Paint to Match the Wall

Once your cover is on, you can paint the whole thing the same colour as your wall to make it nearly invisible.

  9. Step 9 Tackle Cords in the Office

    Tackle Cords in the Office

Desk cable management in your office is a great way to make the room look neater and cleaner. Here’s how to do it in a few easy steps.

  10. Step 10 Group Cords with Cable Ties and Tubing

Group Cords with Cable Ties and Tubing

Group your cords together with cable ties. Wrap them in groups that are small enough to fit inside flex tubing. Cut the flex tubing to the length of the wrapped cords.

  11. Step 11 Pull Tube Apart and Wrap Around Wires

Pull Tube Apart and Wrap Around Wires

Open the flex tube and wrap it around the cords, ensuring that it closes around them. With the flex tubing surrounding them, your cables will look much neater, and they’ll also be protected from damage and spills.

  12. Step 12 Hide Chargers in Desk Drawer Near an Outlet

Hide Chargers in Desk Drawer Near an Outlet

Charge your devices in an out-of-the-way area by hiding a power bar inside one of your drawers. Here’s how.

  13. Step 13 Drill Hole in Back of Drawer

Drill Hole in Back of Drawer

Take the drawer out of the cabinet and using a hole saw bit, drill a hole in the back of the drawer.

  14. Step 14 Attach Cord to Back of Drawer

Attach Cord to Back of Drawer

Feed the end of a power bar through the hole and plug it into the wall. Use double-sided tape to secure the power bar to the inside of the back of the drawer. Now plug your devices in, and shut the drawer. They’re now charging and out of the way!

  15. Step 15 Enjoy Your Clutter-Free Office

    Enjoy Your Clutter-Free Office

With your newly managed cables and hidden charging area, your office should look much neater and help you get the work you need to get done finished, without worrying about a messy office.

  16. Step 16 How to Hide Cords on the Floor

How to Hide Cords on the Floor

If you’ve got cords that run across your floor, consider getting baseboard cord covers or over-floor cord protectors. Your cords fit neatly inside, and they’re shaped in a way that prevents tripping on or damage to your wires.
