DIY Wood Crate Charging Station

  1. Step 1 Gather Materials

  2. Step 2 Measure Crate Opening

    Measure the opening of your crate from the inside and then subtract ¼’ from each side.

  3. Step 3 Mark and Cut

    Mark measurements on your plywood and cut.

  4. Step 4 Drill Holes

    Drill Holes

    Drill 1” holes in the front middle and back middle of the plywood, as well as in the back of the crate. 

  5. Step 5 Measure Crate Depth

    Measure the depth of your crate and subtract two inches.

  6. Step 6 Cut Nailing Strip

    Cut Nailing Strip

    Mark measurements on your nailing strip and cut into 4 equal pieces.

  7. Step 7 Glue Nailing Strips

    Glue Nailing Strips

    Using wood glue, secure the 4 pieces of nailing strips to the corners of your crate. Let dry.

  8. Step 8 Thread Power Bar and Cables in Crate

    Thread Power Bar and Cables in Crate

    Thread power bar through the back hole in crate. Plug in your device chargers and thread cables through holes in plywood.

  9. Step 9 Place Plywood on Top of Nail Strips

    Place plywood on top of nail strips.
