Different manufacturers make multiple styles, but their closet components and attachment systems aren't always compatible with each other. To be safe, stick with the same brand for any single installation. This guide will teach you how to install most closet organizers and storage sets, including baskets and drawers.

If you’re looking to declutter and reorganize your home, install some wire closet shelving. Although there are many styles and brands, nearly all of them are comprised of wire shelves and supports that can be screwed together quickly and easily.
Baskets are a good option for expanding storage space. You can clip hanging baskets to the wire shelf or use floor-based baskets that slide like drawers. Floor-based baskets usually slide on runners and hang on a wire frame that snaps together easily.
Use a stud finder to locate the studs in the wall where you’d like to hang your shelving. Once you’ve located the first stud, measure the wall to find the rest. Hang tracks run parallel to the ceiling and screw into the studs. Make sure the hang track is level before driving in the screws.
Hang the shelf standards from the track. Standards should be no more than 24 inches apart, although manufacturers’ recommendations may vary. Wherever possible, put each standard over a stud so you can drive screws directly into it. Make sure the standard is plumb and draw a line along it before screwing it in place. Using the screws the manufacturer recommends, screw the standard into place along the line.
Put small arms on the back of the hanger into the slots in the standard, then push down until they snap into place. If you're planning on including baskets or other hanging elements, double-check that you've allowed enough space for them. Place the shelves on the hanger bars.
If you want to add a clothing bar, you must first hang bar supports from the shelf. The bar supports in the system pictured slip through the space between the wires and lock in place. Design varies by maker and style.
