What You Need to Become A Local Pro
Please ensure that you have all the necessary requirements to make your application as streamlined as possible.
Approval can take as little as 24 hours once all documents have been received and verified.
1 Required Documents
- Business licence or GST number (RBQ in Quebec)
- Insurance coverage ($1 million minimum)
- WSIB/WCB/NEST coverage (if applicable)
- Trade license
2 Background Check
- All background screening is performed through Entuitive Compliance
- $65 annual fee, renewed each year. (Valid Canadian credit card required)
3 Local Pro Mobile App
- Download the app where you can sign up to become a Pro Xtra member if you aren’t one already. You need a Pro Xtra account in order to become a Local Pro
- Once you’ve downloaded the app, select “Apply for Local Pro” to start the process of receiving leads.

- There is no cost to become a Local Pro or to remain with the program. However, you will need to complete an annual background check, which costs $65 to complete. Your compliance records then remain on file. If you’re non-compliant, you will not receive leads.

- In most parts of Canada, you will need a plumber’s trade licence to become a plumbing Local Pro.
- Québec Pros will require their Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ).
- BC Pros will need to show their Qualification of Certification.

- Pros who have signed up for multiple services will not need to complete more than one background check. It does, however, need to be renewed annually.

- As a Pro Xtra member, you earn credits every time you shop at The Home Depot, in store or online. These points allow you to continue to generate leads for new jobs.
- At any time, you can choose to stop receiving leads (or resume if you have stopped) if you wish to save your credits for another time.

- You can add as many Plumbing Services categories as you like, as long as you have met the requirements

- As long as you’ve completed your background check and meet the professional requirements, you can sign up as a Local Pro for more than one profession or service.
How Local Pro Connects Plumbers to Customers
1 Customers Submit Leads
- Home Depot customers looking for plumbing services (such as leak repair, toilet repair or pipe repair) submit a request and provide their contact information to receive a quote online.
2 We Match 3 Pros to the Customer
- The customer is matched with up to 3 plumbing Pros in their area who are available for the job requested.
- The Pros will receive the lead in-app and can contact the customer to provide a quote.
3 Customer Accepts the Preferred Quote
- After the Pros have contacted the customer, the customer compares quotes, reviews, overall fit and chooses their preferred option.
