Recycling Program
National Battery and Cellphone Recycling Program
In partnership with Call-2-Recycle, The Home Depot Canada offers free battery and cell phone recycling to customers at all The Home Depot Canada stores . We accept the following types of batteries:
- Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd)
- Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH)
- Nickel Zinc (Ni-Zn)
- Small Seale d Lead Acid (SSLA/Pb)
- Cellphones (without batteries)
- Lithium Primary
- Alkaline (AA, AAA, 9V, etc.)
Simply drop off your batteries and cellphones in the specially marked recycling boxes at the returns or services desks, and walk away knowing they will be recycled in an environmentally responsible way.
Since the start of this program in 2001, we have collected more than 720,000 pounds of batteries and cell phones, which is equivalent to the weight of 235 Toyota Priuses.
Paint and compact fluorescent bulb and tube recycling
The Home Depot Canada no longer accepts paint and compact fluorescent light bulbs and tubes for recycling in our stores. We believe the collection and disposal of CFLs and paint can be more effectively managed through a third-party recycling program. Please contact your local municipality to find out how to responsibly recycle these items in your area.
