Step 1 Gather Your Materials
Anything you don’t already have on hand can be found at your local Home Depot. If you need assistance finding anything, a store associate will be happy to help you.
A colourful wooden cover for the base of your Christmas tree can really tie a holiday theme together, and it’s a great project for adults and kids to do together!
There are 4 steps to completing this project:

Cut the tarp to fit the lower third of the crate. This prevents leakage from the stand of a real tree, if you’re using one. Don’t attach it yet!
If you are painting your crate, you can cut out stencils for designs if you don’t want to buy them.
Paint your crate your base colour, then let it dry. Apply masking tape in stripe patterns or simple snowflake designs, then spray again. Let dry before removing tape.
If you are staining your crate, apply the stain and let it dry before decorating.
With your painted or stained crate, you can add all sorts of extra touches, such as:
Once your crate is decorated, attach the tarp around the inside of the crate, reaching just over the top edge.
