Begin with Lawn Care

Get your lawn spring ready by first looking to see if you’ve got any bare patches and filling them with grass seed and soil. Fertilizing and watering your lawn is a must after the cold winter, as it helps revitalize your grass and gets it looking green and lush. We’ve also got a handy guide on planting a lawn from seed if you’re looking to start a new lawn this spring.

Treat Your Deck

Winter can take a toll on your deck, so be sure to give it a refresh once the weather gets warmer. Check for any signs of damage or rot and make any necessary repairs. Clean your deck with a deck cleaner and if you notice that your deck has faded a bit, consider giving it a fresh coat of sealant or stain to help further protect it from the elements. Don’t have a deck yet? We’ve got a helpful guide below on how to build one.

Illuminate Your Landscape with Outdoor Lights

Whether you’re relaxing or entertaining, outdoor lights are a perfect way to create a warm and inviting atmosphere in your yard. Solar lights can be placed practically anywhere that gets sunlight, making them a great choice for yard lighting. You can even install them along dark walkways to add brightness and increase safety. With the right lighting, you can enjoy your yard long into the night.

Get Your BBQ Grill Ready

After a long winter, it’s finally time to get your grill back in cooking mode. First, clean it by scrubbing the grates with a grill brush and washing the exterior with warm, soapy water. Grill been in hibernation mode? Check your propane or natural gas hoses for any signs of wear and replace if necessary and then fire up the grill to make sure it’s heating evenly. Once you’re up and running, consider adding some BBQ storage for your grilling tools and a small table for prep work.

Assess Your Outdoor Patio Furniture

As the winter season ends, it’s time to bring out your patio furniture. First, make sure your patio furniture is clean and presentable by checking frames, straps, cushions and fasteners. Give your furniture and any pillows or cushions a clean using the proper fabric or outdoor furniture cleaner. Check for any wear and tear and repair or replace pieces as needed. Planning on entertaining a crowd? Look at adding a new dining set, a bar cart or simply some extra chairs to accommodate larger groups.

Add Colour with Garden Planters

Add some colour to your outdoor space by incorporating flowers in planters or even a container garden. No matter what size your space (or what level your planting skills), container gardens are easy to plant and maintain. With a little effort, you can create a stunning and colourful landscape that your friends and family will love.
