Eco-fees are used to support provincial recycling and disposal programs to keep end-of-life products out of our landfills and waterways. These diversion programs help protect our environment and our communities.

Eco-fees cover the collection, transportation, recycling or safe disposal of hazardous and special materials, which currently have provincially run recycling programs in place.

Stewardship organizations (provincially approved recycling programs) set the fees each year to cover these recycling programs costs. The Home Depot remits all fees collected from customers to these stewardship organizations.

Yes, if you paid an Eco-fee when you purchased a product, The Home Depot will refund that fee if you decide to return your purchase.

The Home Depot is a responsible producer for tires that we sell and import into Ontario. We manage the collection and transportation of tires sold into the Ontario market to ensure they are responsibly recycled into new rubber products. If you would like to recycle your tires at end of life please click here to find a location nearest you where you can drop off up to 10 tires at no charge.
